openHAB Amanda - disk mmcblk0 will be larger than available space

This is the first time I have not been able to google the answer after many attempts to. I’m hoping the community can help me out. I have a fairly new openHAB setup in our home (yeah!) and now I’m trying to back up my SD card to protect from SD card corruption. NOOB here :slight_smile:

Here is the process I followed

  • Added a USB SSD storage device
  • Partitioned it into two ext4 storage devices (gdisk)
  • mounted them for amanda backup and an log/persistance storage (haven’t setup the latter yet)
  • verified they are setup and accessible
  • installed amanda
  • reboot the system for good measure

Here is my amchek output

Ran the dump just fine

Here is my amreport

Well the error message says what the problem is:
The disk you’re trying to backup is larger than the amount of storage you allowed Amanda to use at most on installation. The value you entered is too small.
Edit the line after define tapetype DIRECTORY { in /etc/amanda/openhab-dir/amanda.conf to define how large every (virtual) “tape” is. The value there is computed on installation as (maximum storage usage) divided by 15 (default number of (v)tapes).

This is what I have in config file. I’m trying to backup a 16GB SD card running openHAB.

define tapetype SD {
    comment "SD card size"
    length 16 gbytes                                    # default SD card size (1 bucket = 1 SD d)
}

So after reading the instructions for about the 6th time. I found a area that mentions typing the memory size in to the configuration tool at 1024 per Gig. If I want to allow Amanda to use 48Gb should I type in 49,152? Do I need to include ‘mb’ after or is it just numbers?

That’s the wrong entry, I said to

because you’re using DIRECTORIES as the storage destination and not SD cards or anything.

No and no. Just a number and of course just figures, i.e. no commas, decimal points or anything. That probably was your mistake to enter a comma.
The question asks for the size “… in megabytes”, so it is precise and unambigous, isn’t it ?
