My comment isn’t consenting the decision. it’s just the stated reason (local control) isn’t a differentiator.
they probably receive repeated ONs as they detect motion so with the expire binding or a timer with a rule you can set up an Item to remain on from the first motion to a certain amount of time after the last movement. See [Deprecated] Design Pattern: Motion Sensor Timer
