Recently I discovered something that has been a major game changer for me using Opehab. I have a decent background on coding and understand logic well but sometimes I get stuck on code and need some help. I used to fall back and rely on forums like this one. The OpenHab community has been awesome! But often times I have limited time to work on projects and need an answer right away.
In my day job, I discovered and use ChatGPT on a regular basis. After reigniting an old project I had been working on, I decided to have Chat help me with OpenHab. Undenounced to me, I discovered that Chat has a custom Chatbot called OpenHab Guru.
OpenHab Guru is fantastic! You can have it help you figure out just about any issues in OpenHab. I have used it to design and create an OpenHab panel to control a passive solar hot water heater and help with perfecting the algorithm used for controlling my pump relay and tracking temperatures over time.
I would highly recommend using ChatGPT and OpenHab Guru if you need help designing your next project. I will warn you that there is a bit of trial and error with this, but if you are patient, it is very worth the effort.
had another experience with OpenHab Guru, I was having a problem where a persistant write with a specific timestamp didn’t work every now and than. Nothing I could figure out worked, so called the Guru for help. The second answer did the trick, in only 5 minutes and the solution was to not have a default datetime stamp in the sql database, so not even OH’s problem. Guru is absolutely one of my best personal AI friends .
I started using Grok two months ago, which has so far nailed every OH query.
Grok has outperformed any other AI I have tested.
I am going through my all my controller code (some 70 projects) with Grok. The collaboration has been awesome, as it does not hold back identifying issues and improvements.
