PID Controller Automation action item

Hi,

What is the output of the PID Controller Automation? The only information in the documentation is the following sentence:

‘Select the Item you like to control in the “Item Action” and leave the command empty’

I need to know what the type of the item should be and what values it will receive. That is, assuming the output is numerical, the range of the value.

I’ve looked through the documentation, I’ve search these forums and searched the web but haven’t found anything helpful.
