Popp Smoke Detector and Siren Z-Wave - Alarm when changing battery

Hello,

I have 7 Popp Smoke Detector and Siren (004001 Smoke Detector and Siren) using Z-Wave. A few days ago, I had to replace a weak battery in one of the devices. When I usually do this, the alarm/siren sounds like max 5 seconds, then all is OK. For some reason, the detector that got a new battery was still broadcasting an alert to the other detectors. I had to run in the house to remove all the batteries from the detectors as the sound was painful for the ears.

I checked the parameters that could be used, but I am not sure at all if I could use any of them to disable the broadcasting to other detectors. The great thing would be to avoid this alarm when replacing the battery.

I wanted to check with Popp, but their website seems to have some problems…

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot for your time.

I use four of these popp smoke detectors and were facing the same problem. Therefore direct zwave communication between the devices is disabled. In case of any alert of one smoke detector I trigger the other ones by a rule in OH.
I thought I have full control over the battery condition in such a critical device, but Popp doesn‘t care.

Hello Mclupo!

Thanks a lot for your reply and sorry for my late message. If I understand correctly, you set the parameter 5 to value 0.

When it comes to the rule, could you please confirm how you set it up?

Cheers.

I use zwave-js-ui to run my zwave devices.
The device section ‚binary switch v1‘ contains a parameter ‚37-0-targetValue‘ which will energies the siren sound of the smoke detector. If you set this parameter to ON via mqtt in OH, the smoke detector wakes up your family.
