Problem with USB port after reinstall of OpenHAB, cannot read from Smartmeter

Hi,

I am sorry to bother you with something basic but I am completely lost and can’t find any solution for my problem. I guess it’s dead simple but not for me.

I did a fresh install of OpenHAB to perform a release update. Then I restored my settings from an OpenHAB backup. It worked well but for some reason, I cannot access my electric power values anymore. I use the Smartmeter binding. Sometimes it works for a short time but suddenly the thing goes from Online to Offline. This is the error:

Does anyone have a step by step guide to things I can do and check to resolve the error?

Not familiar with that binding, but the zwave binding uses a serial port and needs the feature:install openhab-transport-serial in karaf. Do you recall doing that in the past?

Hi Bob, thank you. I don’t recall that. But thank you very much for your advise. I can try that.

I tried this and I have restarted OpenHAB service but the problem stays. The smartmeter comes online for a couple of seconds but then goes offline again because of the error mentioned in my first post.
