Hello everyone.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a Z-Wave heating thermostat that works with the Aeotec 5?
I have tested Danfoss, Popp and Devolo. they all seem to be identical. Only minor differences (e.g. the Dafoss does not have a current temperature).
They don’t work reliably enough for me. I’m always afraid that I won’t notice when the battery is empty, because then everything might have to be set up again.
Just in case you dont find a zwave device. I use the danfoss ally thermostats with zigbee and zigbee2mqtt. You get battery level and actual valve temperature and valve opening. You can also send external temperature instead of using internal temperature.
Thank you very much for your tip.
I probably also need zigbee. So far I’ve managed with WLAN and ZWave.
Have you tried Eurotronic Spirit Z-Wave Plus? Those are working for me.
I show battery levels under 15% in my sidemap and change them if they reach 5%.
But, to be honest, I don’t belive, that Danfoss and Popp have no Battery Level Channel, if you talk about Things Supported by the Z-Wave Binding.
Thank you icsat.
I will look for the eurotronic valve and test it.
You are right, there is the battery level.
However, it is unreliable with Devolo.
With Popp it remains at 0%
And Danfoss also lacks the temperature channel.
I have now swapped and re-integrated and tested several times.
But even after days and multiple wake-up attempts, nothing changes.
The spirit have the option to enabled or disable battery reporting in the device configuration. I am not sure how often they report the battery level, but I think they do often enough.
I have 6 Spirit Thermostats. Running reliably, reporting battery, working with external temperature. What I like is that they are FLIRS devices (frequently listening), which makes them reacting very fast on e.g. heating mode changes or external temperature updates.
Thank you for your recommendations and experience
I have ordered a spirit valve and will test it and report back.
I received the valve today.
The inclusion worked perfectly.
However, I do not have a channel in the Thing.
Any suggestions on what I can do?
Btw: I also noticed on another device that after inclusion the channels that were recognized before the update to 4.3 were no longer there.
And the warning in the log:
