Running OH2, what is the simplest way to connect the system to a security monitoring service? I go on backpacking trips where I am out of reach of phone and email for a week, so I’d like to pay a service to monitor the system. I’ve seen the DSC alarm binding, but this requires DSC hardware. It seems reasonable to me that OH should be able to connect directly to a cellular communicator. If that is true, I would pay a one-time cost for the communicator, then $10 to $15 a month for monitoring.
With the serial binding, you could send AT commands to a GSM modem for e.g SMS messaging.
You would need a mobile/cell contract or pay-as-you go SIM as well.
