I can’t speak to KNX. There might be something in the binding that lets you do that but in general it is not supported by other technologies.
However, I once wrote up a Design Pattern that covers this problem but it was buried deep in a long thread discussing such patterns. I just copied over and rewrote that Design Pattern here:
