[SOLVED] My log is filled with Chromecast updates

The log level is set top Info for smarthome.event.ThingStatusInfoEvent and my Chromecast devices fill my log with status updates like shown under. I could restrict the logging of ThingStatusEvent and have my log look cleaner, but I am wondering if it is supposed to be like this and that the binding is polling status too often or something. Right now one of my Chromecast audios are playing and my non-audio Chromecast is without power.

In PaperUI > Things > Edit adjust the refresh interval from 600 to a higher value. Not sure it will work but worth a try.

Thanks! It seems like that solved it.

Or rather, I set it to 600. My refresh interval was at 10 for all devices. I don’t know if this is the default value or how this has happened.

Glad I could help.

If you would, mark this as solved and hopefully other readers with a similar issue will find a quick fix.

Thanks

The difference is that now the updates come every 10 minutes instead of every 10 seconds. Obviously a large improvement of the readability of my logs, but I still wonder if these things (as the only things) are supposed to send a ThingStatusInfoEvent: ONLINE every 10 minutes in general / in the log.

Do you see the same behavior?

I do, see the same behavior for somethings in my log, such as state change events. Unless your troubleshooting or using the status update for anther reason just restrict the logging. Or, have the update occur less frequently, something like 30min to 1 hour. Thats what’s so great about openhab, you customize it to suit you.

FYI, the search function (top right corner) is helpful when you only what to see one items events.

I definitely want state change events in the log. But the only devices that update every x minutes whether there are changes or not are the Chromecasts. Do you see the same behavior?

I e:
Dimmers, thermostats et cetera report state changes
Chromecasts report state changes AND reports “ONLINE” every 10 minutes (or however long the refresh interval is set to).
