Not quite right. When the manufacturer ID is fixed, then it should discover them correctly. It was also working in the past. Something seems to have changed to break it.
The OP devices went from known to unknown after update.
Yours were unknown before the update until you hacked some files. These are two totally different situations.
Likely your device is br0ken.
Yes, I believe so also, although it is hard to imagine all 7 to be faulty. Maybe the manufacturer didn’t implement something properly.

It seems with another update of Openhab the problem is solved. I am now running openHAB 2.5.3 Build #62.
