I’ll be upgrading my sprinkler controller and of course I’d like to ensure I can easily integrate it with Openhab. The opensprinkler product seems to have stagnated for years so I’m leaning towards the Orbit B-Hyve or the Rachio. Both have bindings (B-Hyve posted, Rachio user created) and I’d like to ask if anyone is using one or the other binding currently, what device you’re using, and how the binding performs.
Cheers
(and I’m on OH4.3.4 looking to go to OH5 reasonably soon)
I use the Rachio binding, but I only use it to let me know when the cycle has finished or whether it has ran at all, I let Rachio manage the sprinklers and decide whether to run the cycle based on predicted and previous rain levels
Maybe as idea, I made OpenHAB my sprinkler controller. I connected the sprinklers to ESP32 card with tasmota and relay card and OpenHAB does all the calculations and sends only commands to open or close solenoid zone valve to the ESP32
Thx! Glad to hear the Rachio binding is working currently.
I’d be tempted to go the custoim route, but I think for this go-around I’ll aim for off the shelf.
If anyone has been using the B-Hyve binding I’d still be curious on their experience too.

It REQUIRES B-Hyve cloud. I’m in the process of creating an isolated vlan for all of my iot devices and this broke the binding.
There is a RUMOR that when Matter 1.5 is released sometime this spring, it will include irrigation and sensors and Rachio will have a Matter offering. This allows full local control
