Top hinge window opener

Hi all,

Does anybody have any advice on at top hinge window opener? I have zwave, zigbee and wifi devices already, so anything with that is nice. Maybe zemismart?

Thank you, Ramon

I cannot really recommend, but I have a zwave Fibaro “Roller Shutter” FGR which works in general flawlessly since many years.
Since my opener has a electronical soft start and stop positioning does not work, just fully opened or closed.
If you do not need positioning it is a reliable device.

ok. Im gonne roll the dice and ordered this one https://www.zemismart.com/products/zm90-z Looks like with zigbee2mqtt it will work. The only thing is that there is no lock. But lets see

Out of curiosity, can this turn the handle (lock-unlock) or only open/close the window that is manually unlocked?

It’s only open close, I did see some which can lock but then you end up with a proprietary remote control, while I want to automate, e.g. for thermal control, or to close them in case I forgot when I left home. Better closed unlocked than open.

If you or anybody else can find some that does both that would be better of course

Watching this with interest! Please report back when you receive it and try it out.

Yeah, I understand it can be useful in some cases, but for my use case would be dangerous. what if someone manually locked the window (to make it really airtight/watertight as designed) and then automation tries to open it? motor would be fried, potential fire, potential damage on the window frame..

Yeah, not sure if it fries the motor if blocked. I hope it will detect and switch off, it does feel obvious that there is an endpoint detection, so I’m guessing this should not be an issur. E.g. My IKEA rollerblinds will switch off if they cannot move any further.

I have a unit now, plugged it in, but nothing is happening. Looks like a doa, also there were some scratches on the aluminium casing. Feels like it was a returned defective unit or something.

I emailed them asking if they can send a replacement. Response was to send a video of what is happening, but that is kind of pointless as there is absolutely nothing to show…

Lets see how this turns out.

If anybody has good suggestions on other brands or solutions (maybe I should make my own with a zwave control or something)
