Upgrade Path - 4.1.0 to 4.3.8 or 5.0.3?

Hello fellow openHABers! I haven’t upgraded my kit in awhile and it looks like I am quite out of date… Would anyone be kind enough to let me know if my build would be safe to go directly to 5.0.3 or is there some hop-to version I should consider? I know the JRE can be picky…

  • Platform information:
    • Hardware: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.2(openhabian)
    • OS: Raspbian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye)
    • Java Runtime Environment: openjdk version “17.0.9” 2023-10-17
      OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 17.0.9+9-Raspbian-1deb11u1rpt1)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 17.0.9+9-Raspbian-1deb11u1rpt1, mixed mode, emulated-client)
    • Memory: Total: 3.75GB
    • openHAB version: 4.1.0

I would immediately move to 5.0.3 and skip the java17 versions. Not that there are issues, but I don’t see any benefits

Read the mayor/ minor release notes, maybe skip the patch notes.
