Xiaomi Gateway disconnect from the cloud/Internet

Hi, is there a way to disconnect the Xiaomi Gateway from the cloud/Internet? I am using it with openhab, and normally accessing all my devices via VPN, I don’t want Xiaomi to break this rules and be available via open Internet. Is there a way to deny this to keep openhab functionality of OH binding uses the cloud too?

You can do that by configuring your router to disable outgoing connection from the xiaomi gatemay.

Was thinking about it but wasn’t sure this will keep binding’s functionality.
