Hi,
is there any communication, interaction, need for validation (or whatever) when adding a tuya zigbee device between the ZigbeeBinding and TuyaBinding ?
Thank you
No. The Tuya binding is WiFi. Zigbee is a different wireless protocol. As long as the devices bear the Zigbee logo they should work with the Zigbee binding.
Hi,
I recently started testing Tuya WiFi and some Zigbee devices.
For Tuya WiFi use SmartHome/J Tuya Binding.
For Zigbee devices, I chose to install Zigbee2MQTT + MQTT Binding.
Thank you Rich. I have a peculiar, i think, behavior from the Zigbee binding (i have slzb06m as coordinator with up-to-date firmware, online and workink) where the new zigbee tuya devices appear each double in the inbox , one with "unknown zigbee device " sintax and the same with some model number.
So each device appear double in the inbox or when I start scanning. Is that normal?
Having never used the Zigbee binding with Tuya devices . I’ve not seen that for devices from other vendors.
I have seen that behavior before with some tuya devices like the energy meter and a garage door opener switch device it was due to the device not be fully zigbee compliant. I have seen many posts in past from Chris explaining that some of these china knock offs do not provide all the information needed to allow them to work properly with the official openHAB zigbee binding. Point and case the energy meter I bought does not behave correctly with zigbee binding but works fine with zigbee2mqtt other devices like that garage door switch just report as a unknown device and then if you keep discovering will report a second time with a model name that is not fully matching a specific device type
Devices shouldn’t appear twice. However, once added as a thing, you may find that the device is still in the inbox as well - this is a “feature” of OH.
If you’re really seeing them twice, please provide a screenshot. Also make sure there’s not another device that has joined that you weren’t aware of.
Hi,
I bought a device (Temperature & humidity sensor - ZTH05) that was not recognized by OH ZigBee Bind or even by Zigbee2MQTT.
It is from a Brazilian “manufacturer” (NovaDigital).
The device’s fingerprint in Brazil is: _TZE284_hdyjyqjm
In Tuya models, the fingerprint appears as _TZE200_vvmbj46n or _TZE284_vvmbj46n
I inserted the Brazilian “manufacturer” fingerprint in the tuya.js file in Zigbee2MQTT and it started to recognize it.
I believe that many other devices have altered fingerprints and are therefore not recognized
/ supported by Z2M or OH ZigBee Bind.
