Zigbee Plugin Backup

Hello Friends,

I’ve fund two folders in the ZigBee subfolder.
Was i own many smart plugs the xml files in the coordinator folder are really huge.
Do i need to backup those xml files or are they automatically "re"created?

/data/openhab/userdata/ZigBee /zigbee_coordinator_ember_62ecffffff

I also found a folder firmware with github.com… is this also intended or a mistake in my installation?
/data/openhab/userdata/ZigBee /firmware/gitub.com…

Thanks a lot
/Franz

You don’t need to change the xml or back anything up - just update to the new snapshot as you normally do (of course there’s also nothing to stop you doing a normal backup of openHAB which is always a good idea ).

Thanks,
The main question is, do I need to backup the files or not. The reason why I‘m asking is that this folder takes 50% of all Volune.

So, what happens if they are lost, will they be recreated?

Well, if you create a backup of OH, then these files should be included (if you use the OH CLI they are). It’s definitely a good idea to perform a system backup, and definitely a good idea to backup your zigbee data.

If you loose the files, then they can be regenerated. For mains devices, this will happen seamlessly since the devices are always powered and the binding will do this automatically. However for battery devices, it’s likely they won’t be re-generated without manual intervention to wake up the devices.

However, this is not really related to upgrading your system. I mean, you just updated the binding from 4.2 to 4.4 right? Did you do a backup then? It’s not needed to be done before an upgrade since the files will all be retained, but as always, a periodic backup is a good idea.

Regarding this folder, you don’t need to back this up, although I think the OH CLI backup will do so. This is firmware updates that may be downloaded from various places on the net and stored locally if/when required.

No this is not related to the update, it’s just in general to reduce the size of the backups, that’s all.
