ZWave Aeotec Bulb ZWA001 - cannot change colour temperature

This is a repost of an earlier post that was lost in the rollback of the forums - apologies if you replied and I didn’t see your reply.

I’ve recently purchased a Z Wave lightbulb from Aeotec and added it to my OpenHab3 ZWave network - the bulb is correctly identified by the binding as a “ZWA001 Bulb 6 Multi-White”.

It is successfully detected by the ZWave binding and presents four channels:

As you can see I’ve added items for the:

  1. Dimmer
  2. Colour Temperature - this should let me change the “warmth” of the light.

I’ve also defined these items:
Dimmer Study_Bulb_6_Toggle “Study Light” [Lighting] { channel=“zwave:device:d9cc00035a:node8:switch_dimmer” }Dimmer Study_Bulb_6_Temp { channel=“zwave:device:d9cc00035a:node8:color_temperature” }

The dimmer functionality works fine, but I’m having trouble with the colour temperature item - for reasons I’m not too sure on here when I change the item:

  1. The light will change brightness, not temperate
  2. The value of the slider in the UI will jump to 0 after the bulb changes brightness (I could live with this if it actually changed the temperature).

So for some reason it appears the channel is controlling the brightness, not the temperature. I’m fairly new to Z-Wave so I’m unable to suggest what is wrong here. However, I can post the logs of what is going on when I change the temperature:

Happy to supply any other logs that might help with diagnosis of what is going on here?

Based on some advice from the ever-useful @Bruce_Osborne I did also attempt to change the colour mode by passing either 1 or a 0 to the channel “Color Control” - although this would accept a 1 or a 0 it didn’t change the bulb itself. No other values seemed to do anything either - I tried both integer, HSB values and RGB values.

@chris - sorry to ping you directly but Bruce suggested you might have some ideas here of what I can try next? Many thanks if you do.

Sorry I cannot recall your details the OH3 bindings had 3 week old databases until a couple of days ago. I do not know if installing a snapshot binding would help you.

My current access is limited because of a local power outage.

It looks like this is working ok. The color temperature channel works by varying the WW and CW levels, and it seems that this is working ok -:

@chris I would agree - except the light doesn’t actually change in temperature at all :frowning:

Maybe the bulb is faulty?

Maybe - I really can’t tell. All I can say is that the binding is sending the correct commands to vary the two white channels, and it is reading it back from the device and the device indicates that it has changed both the warm and cold white. if it’s not changing, then quite possibly the device is faulty.
