Amazon Echo Binding not updating item states in OpenHAB

Hi,

While my Amazon Thing is connected and is also able to control the skill linked devices through Openhab, when any device is controlled through, either through Alexa or through the devices direct app, the status change update does not happen in OpenHab.

Is anybody else facing this issue?

Regards

Nishank

Am not sure if i have 100% understood your issue because the “Amazon Echo Control” binding and the “openHAB Alexa skill” are 2 different things.

There are known and also pretty old issues with the “Amazon Alexa skill”. It carries out commands but most of the item states are not updated then except a very few. See e.g. OH 5.0.3 item states are not retrieved/updated by Alexa or Value of CurrentTemperature Item not displayed in Alexa . This issue seems to depend largely on Amazon and as long as OH commands are carried out, most of the OH users are satisfied. I personally moved for most of my Alexa commands to the Matter binding which allows to integrate even very old devices.

I use the “Amazon Echo Control” binding mainly for execution of voice commands, setting of Echo volumes or playing radio channels. Have not yet observed anything not working.

My issue was, when I control any device through Alexa, the status change of that device was not getting updated in the Openhab items which are linked through Amazon Echo Binding.

I had uninstalled the binding. Restarted OpenHAB and the installed the binding, after which the issue got resolved. Now the item status is getting updated.
