Aqara Binding - new FP2 sensor?

Did anyone find an alternative to using HA ?
I have nothing against HA per say but installing this extra piece of software just for FP2s sounds like overkill and asking for (maintenance) troubles.

I would love to experiment wiht this sensor, but so far, the need for HA slows me down as I am trying to limit the “moving parts”.

Whats about the Matter Update. Will that solve the issue of direct connection to mqtt or openHAB?

Since the FP2 is a WiFi device that doesn’t go through an Aqara hub, I imagine it would need its own binding to connect directly to openHAB, rather than extending the existing one.

I assume you’re talking about the FP2 gaining Matter support. That won’t change anything about directly connecting to openHAB, unless/until we have Matter support.

The problem is that Matter isn’t coming together the way it was pitched, because companies are resisting the original “everything just works with everything else” concept. Until there’s more clarity on that, I would hesitate to buy anything that depends on Matter.

I really like the capabilities of the FP2, but for now I’ll stick with my much cheaper Sonoffs, which are working very well for me.

Watching the discussion as I’m planning to buy one for my kitchen/dinning area

Hi! I’m trying to receive my Aqara FP2 sensor notification (people presence or fall detection) via MQTT but I can not find it in MQTT Home Assistant. I already linked it to the home kit controller and I receive correctly the presence changes via Home Assistant. How can I do it so I can receive notifications via MQTT? I can not fin my sensor here:

Thank you in advance (I’m nooby, sorry for my ignorance  )

You have to add an MQTT statestream which must be done via config files and not the UI. See post #11 above by seime.
