Hi everyone,
does it mean, when i updatet to OH4.2M3 i cannot use the kjoglums binding ?
Even when i dont use the UhA binding ?

Thx Stephan

No, you can, but you cannot use both.

hi - is this confirmed, did you successfully do it ? I thought 4.2 will require another recompile and we have not heared from @kjoglums in a long time and there was no 4.2 recompile of his binding (which I also happily use and shy from the work to move to another one for no added benefits to me )?

Olaf

No, I’m not using any of the bindings. My reply was in relation to the name conflict only.

thanks for clarifying. Has anyone run this successfully in 4.2 yet ? That would be a key information for us using it before daring an upgrade

Currently i’m using:
openHAB 4.2.0 - Release Build

And I still use both bindings, both are still installed from the addons folder.

openhabian@openhabian:/usr/share/openhab/addons $ ls -lah
total 422M
drwxrwxr-x 2 openhab openhab 4.0K Jul 14 12:47 .
drwxrwxr-x 4 openhab openhab 4.0K Jul 14 12:47 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 openhab openhab 420M Jul 8 02:24 openhab-addons-4.2.0.kar
-rw-r--r-- 1 openhabian openhab 2.4M Aug 26 2023 org.openhab.binding.freeathome-4.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar
-rw-r--r-- 1 openhabian openhab 87K Dec 23 2023 org.openhab.binding.freeathomesystem-4.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar
-rw-r--r-- 1 openhab openhab 70 Jul 8 02:23 README

It is hard for me to keep the two bindings separate here while reading the posts.
So I will do a little bit of documentation here:

@UhA binding: (ABB/Busch-JƤger free@home - official REST api)
org.openhab.binding.freeathomesystem-4.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar
things view:

@kjoglums binding: (Busch-Jaeger Free@Home)
org.openhab.binding.freeathomesystem-4.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar
things view:

here my add-on store:

I assume the left one is the @UhA binding in the add-on folder. And the right one, which is currently not installed, is the new binding that is integrated into OpenHab. The new ā€œFreeAtHome Bindingā€ is the successor of the @UhA binding, right?

So I can confirm that my current configuration is working. But what would happen if I installed the FreeAtHome Binding through the Add-On Store? Is it possible to run all three bindings at the same time? My ultimate goal would be to use only the new FreeAtHome Binding, but the migration would be easier if I used all three at the same time.

And there is still the problem, that the @UhA binding does not support all features from the @kjoglums binding. What is the correct place for the issues and feature requests?

As the binding is official part of openHAB all bugs and requests should be made to the openHAB repository.

Hi Olaf,
i updated to openhab 4.2.1 without problems (with kjoglums binding).
free@home is at 3.3.2.

I my case kjoglums is also running without problems with openHAB 4.2.0 - Release Build

But now I can answer my own question, I just tested it.

Installing the official integrated binding will screw up the whole system if you still have a manually installed binding from @kjoglums.

So the next days/weeks I check the issues on, https://github.com/andrasU/openhab-addons/issues that prevented me from switching completly to the @UhA binding.

@kjoglums if you read this, maybe you could provide/compile your binding under a new name. Testing and migrating would be easier for me.

Hi,
Is there a chance to reactivate this thread ? There a major problems with the new built in binding for openhab now:

Do you have also problems ?

the @kjoglums binding still works without problems for me.

For me also the @kjoglums binding works with OH 4.3.0 and f@h 3.4.1.

https://github.com/openhab/openhab-addons/pull/17957

Will be in next patch release. Looks like more fixes are incoming. By @JankKeks

This thread focuses on the binding by @kjoglums.

Fixes by @JankKeks have been applied to the other binding by @UhA (see: ABB Busch-Jaeger Free@Home Official REST API).

Previously, the bindings were named as follows:

The bindings are implemented in completely different ways.

When the @UhA binding was added to the official marketplace, it was renamed to the exact same name as the @kjoglums binding.

Currently, I need to use both bindings because the @UhA binding doesn’t yet support all devices. However, I am working on improving this.

Additionally, I believe some users still rely on older versions of both bindings to avoid recreating their existing Things.

Dears,

the binding by @kjoglums can be used in OH5 ?

I“ve an SysAP v1.

Thank you.

Hi Sascha,

you cannot use this binding AND the official Rest API.
You have to decide for one.

On OH4.3.6 the Binding from @kjoglums works for me fine with sysap v1.

Hi,

ok clear but the binding could be used for OH 5?

I’m on OH 4 last version and I’m happy.

I dont know, i switched with OH5 to the official REST API.

I did this because there are still a Lot of Work and improvements in the official binding. Switching was no Big Deal, New Things must be linked with the old items.
