Eclipse Issue after upgrade to OH 2.3 - 8080 not reachable any longer

Hi all,

after upgrading to OH 2.3 I ran into an issue. I assume I had eclipse still open while upgrading…

Openhab.log is showing the following message:

Unresolved requirement: Import-Package: javax.inject

at org.eclipse.osgi.container.Module.start(Module.java:444) [?:?]
at org.eclipse.osgi.container.ModuleContainer$ContainerStartLevel.incStartLevel(ModuleContainer.java:1634) [?:?]

at org.eclipse.osgi.framework.eventmgr.EventManager.dispatchEvent(EventManager.java:230) [?:?]
at org.eclipse.osgi.framework.eventmgr.EventManager$EventThread.run(EventManager.java:340) [?:?]

I am facing the problem that I can’t reach openhabian:8080 with the browser and I assume that the stated log is causing the issue…Does someone has an Idea where the issue is related to? What can I do to fix this?

Thank you.

Hi Rich,

thanks for your link. I already followed that link before. Did it again but still no changes and with
tail -F /var/log/openhab2/openhab.log I still receive:

Any Idea?

I don’t have anything else to suggest except to make a backup and do a clean install. The best I can guess is something went wrong or got corrupted either during the last install or for some other reason (lost power instead of properly shutting down the machine, SD card corruption, etc).

Thanks Rich for your reply.

I searched a bit through the web and the forum and found this post OH2 does not start

This thread is a bit older, but I am facing the exact issue right now. I upgraded from OH 2.3 and facing the same error notifications then described there. My Java Versions are:

openjdk version "1.8.0_152"

OpenJDK Runtime Environment (Zulu Embedded 8.25.0.76-linux-aarch32hf) (build 1.8.0_152-b76)

OpenJDK Client VM (Zulu Embedded 8.25.0.76-linux-aarch32hf) (build 25.152-b76, mixed mode, Evaluation)

I checked the permissions, but I do not see any gaps in.

Maybe you @waitz_sebastian or @ThomDietrich have an idea? I think there is somewhere the issue that needs to determined and fixed that I can you the program as previous to the upgrade. I would like to prevent from reinstalling openhab2 or openhabian at all.

Thank you for you help,

Kindly,
Woogi.

I doubt you will be able to avoid it frankly. This is a fundamental problem with the stuff that OH runs on top of. Only a failed install or corrupted install would be causing an error like this.

Hi everybody,

I reinstalled everything. Took me 2 hours to setup everything with exec and upload my item/thing and cfg files.

Topic can be closed for now.

Kindly,
Woogi

Hi,

I am getting a bit frustrated with OH. I setup the system proper based on the manuals, but after running one day proper the connection to the rip got lost completely. So I set the system up again and got again the issue with 8080 not reachable.

System information:
Release = Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) --> openhabian openhabianpi-raspbian-201804031720-gitdba76f6-crc9e93c3eb.img (image downloaded last week)
Kernel = Linux 4.14.62-v7+
Platform = Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2
openHAB 2.3.0-1 (Release Build)
Java Version:
openjdk version “1.8.0_152”
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (Zulu Embedded 8.25.0.76-linux-aarch32hf) (build 1.8.0_152-b76)
OpenJDK Client VM (Zulu Embedded 8.25.0.76-linux-aarch32hf) (build 25.152-b76, mixed mode, Evaluation)

After setting it up I did directly update and upgrade as recommended and a reboot afterwards. Then I executed the following things for my exec binding:

git://git.drogon.net/wiringPi

With the rip I am able to control my switches. So far so good. But now it gets crazy:

I reached the Dash by 8080 and installed the standard configuration. Then I installed some bindings and checked the log. thereby I figured out that sth. is not working proper. During the installation of the standard configuration occurred and issue. As I learned I should clear the cache after stopping OH what I exactly did. After restarting OH I am not able any longer to access 8080.

My logs are:

journalctl -u openhab2.service -b

I really don’t now what I am doing wrong after just entering the openhabian SD card letting the system install. This shouldn’t be the purpose . I am really disturbed by reinstalling everything for X-times. Maybe someone has a good advice if sth. is missing or I am doing sth. wrong. I just want to start and use the OH-system which shouldn’t be that difficult, right?

Thank you very much.

So latest update:

I checked now everything. In the end the issue is related to the SD card. I used a different one and it worked without any problems…:grinning:
