Migrating Z-Wave, choosing device for the next 5 years

Hi All,
I’m seeing the writing on the wall that it’s time to make a fairly big push to upgrade my server hardware and radios.
I am currently unable to add new z-wave devices to my network, and while I know I could probably start a fresh install on the latester version and eventually get my 6-year-old RaZberry hat working fully for new inclusions, I wanted to upgrade my hardware.

I have seen the writing on the wall with Matter/Zigbee being the new standard, and am seeing fewer and fewer new zwave devices showing up, so I’d kind of like to also include a radio that would be compatible with this as well.

Looking through the forums, trying to get caught up, I don’t see any clear conclusions/advise on this yet. Some people get the Aeotek USB dongle, and I’m sure I could get a USB dongle for each.
I do see an all-in-one from Z-Wave.Me (Multi-protocol controller) that advertises integration with OpenHab. I thought, given this advertised integration, I’d find discussions on here referencing it, but can’t find any.

Is this too soon to get a combination device, with key protocols/hardware likely to change? Are there red flags with this device with the current state of implementation?

Thanks!

Matter, practically speaking, is not yet ready for prime time. There are not that many devices out there yet, OH support for Matter is comming soon but not here yet, and despite it supposed to be a vendor neutral system, the vendors have still found ways to create vendor lockin.

The Z-Station has had some threads discussing it: Search results for 'Z-station' - openHAB Community.

Generally we don’t know under what basis they claim compatability with openHAB but IIRC the Zwave and Zigbee parts of it should work just fine in OH. The Matter/Thread support is unknown. See Incorporating Matter for progress on that front.
