I could find nothing on their web site pointing to a published API so it looks like we have to wait for someone to reverse engineer the API.

I noticed that it is hard for a beginner to get this done, because all information is spreaded in different threads and postings, so I decided to put it all together in a step-by-step walk through here.

Has anyone had any luck or progress with using Tuya-MQTT method on Monoprice devices?
The MP stuff is extremely inexpensive in comparison to typical GE/Aeon/etc devices, so it would be great to understand 1) if the above method even works, and 2) how reliable the MP stuff is.

Here is a simple script, items and rules to control Tuya switches. Quite a few Chinese switches are simply re-branded Tuya devices.
Update
Now with Cloud support. You can simply use your email/pass for the Tuya/Smart Life app used to register your devices.
Local ON/OFF commands should now be pretty much instant.
