A lot development efforts have happened since our 5.0 release and it is therefore time to ship the first milestone release for openHAB 5.1!
This build should be fairly well backward compatible with any 5.0 installation - there are just a few small comments that you might want to check before an upgrade.
Please use this topic for any discussions around our 5.1 milestones.

We have reached feature freeze for openHAB 5.1 today - with it, we have just released Milestone 4:
From now on, all efforts will be on bug fixing. So please let us know on GitHub issues or on this topic if there are any critical things open that must be addressed before the final release!

We are quickly heading towards the final release and we have a first release candidate build available:
Do not expect any major changes from here on anymore - we have reached formal code freeze and only critical bug fixes will be considered until the release on Sunday!

Thanks to your testing, we have found and fixed some fairly critical issues that were part of RC1. As a result, we just published a second release candidate, which comes with these changes over RC1:
We hope that this is now a worthy build to be released officially tomorrow!

For the first time since years, we have decided to (slightly) postpone the envisioned GA release date - the original plan was to publish it tonight, but due to last minute bug fixing, we instead present you openHAB 5.1.0.RC3:
The GA release will nonetheless follow before christmas - it will be there by Tuesday, promised!
We are confident that RC3 has now addressed any critical issues, so we should be on the right track.
