I’ve been using OPENHAB since 2019. And I’m 1 of the BETA users that is using OPENHAB together with OLISTO. Since the first day this is working, I’m able to control my IKEA rolling shutters and SOMFY SUNSCREENS. And it is working in both directions, so in OLISTO I can see the position of them and use it in rules (TRIGGI’s).
But after I rebooted my PI this Monday, I can only control the devices from OLISTO in OPENHAB, but don’t get any data back. Sending the SUNSCREENS out is working, but OLISTO still thinks they are at 0%. Did something change in the last few days or weeks? Is there anything I missed or need to reconfigure?
Becuase I still don’t ave any idea why it suddenly stopped working, to be sure that it is nothing that I have changed, I restored the version I used on Jul 1 when moving from my Pi4 to my Pi5. Because after that move, everything worked as before. So now already running for a few hours with that same setup (Openhab 4.3.5) as on Jul 1, but still no status data available. Only possible to set a position, but no data of the actual position back. Pity that I can’t find anything in the community about what could be the cause for this.
I’m using OPENHAB 4.3.5. Normally if the position of my BLINDS is changing, I was able to use this new location to take actions in OLISTO. As said, a bit the same as IFTTT was doing in the past. As far as I know the communication is using the MYOPENHAB.ORG connection. The authentication is based on OAUTH2.
But in the MYOPENHAB addon, there is still a ENHANCED option that is telling about EXPOSING devices to 3rd party like IFTTT. But if I read the comunity well, this should be working anymore for years. But that doesn’t explain then why it stopped working less then a week ago for me. Is here anywhere in OPENHAB to detect if it is sending out to the outside world the status of my blinds? And even better: Is there anywhere in the MYOPENHAB to see what is going through?
The only thing that I can think of is that around that time openHAB moved its hosting. Not sure if this affects my.openHAB.org in anyway. In oprnHAB nothing changed specifically regarding olistio or 3rd party that I know of.
what is the benefit of using olisto vs openHAB’s built-in blockly or rules?
I’m using Somfy I/O screens, shades and all is controlled very stable from openHAB itself.
Indeed, if the Hosting was the cause, I would also expect that there was no communication at all anymore with OLISTO. But it is o only one way. That makes it so strange.
About why OLISTO? Good question. When I started with automating my house, Raspberry PI almost didn’t exsist and HA and OpenHab I hadn’t heard off. The main benefit of OLISTO in that time (and still is), it is completely cloud based. So I didn’t need any local server to connect all different brands together. Now because of security, I agree that OPENHAB is perhaps better to heve it all in you own hands. But I still have equipment that can’t be controlled with OPENHAB. Like KlikAanKlikUit (Dutch naming for the TRUST home lighting) is only open to OLISTO. And even my ENECO TOON can be controlled from HA and OPENHAB, it is only REALTIME and exposing the SMARTSWITCHES, that is not possible in the other systems. THe main reason I also started using OPENHAB, is becuase my SOMFY sunscreens were (and maybe still are) not available in the modern Somfy API. I’ve been in contact many times with Somfy, but only via the OLD API is is possible to control my sunscreens. And OPENHAB is having that option. OLISTO was trying to integrate in 2019 to OPENHAB, so I was a very good BETA case to make that happen. And since then it is still working fine (until last Monday). In the past it sometimes happend that the communication with OLISTO was not working, but then if I switched my phone to 4G also the myopenhab couldn’t communicate. Rebooting the PI was solving that and about an hour later all communication to and from OLISTO was also back.
So I realy have at the moment no idea what is caausing this issue.
Today it is Sep 1. And I just notice that my SUNSCREEN is CLOSING by itself. So since today the communication is back online. I had no idea what was the reason. But just had contact with the admin from OLISTO and they have restarted the OPENHAB connection. And that might have solved the issue. Still no idea why it was only having 1 way communication. But at least it is back online.
