Thanks Chris, I feel stupid now , tried to access the link that MikeEast posted , but it didnt worked , didnt even tried to access the URL without the full URI .

I have downloaded the latest snapshot (1.9) and i still get the same errors that i got with the 1.8.2)

The log file looks very strange - lots of the same messages, and timeouts when sending data to the controller… It’s hard to tell what’s happening really - debug logs are really preferred if possible.

Anyway, I’ll take a look at this exception…

I though it was already debug logs, I have started openhab from the “start_debug_runtime.sh”

I am suspecting that some performance issues on the NAS (synology ds214) might be the reason for the timeouts. the load is very high.
might be one of the reasons i can’t get it to work .
the performance issues started when i updated to openhab 1.8.2 from 1.7, i will try to downgrade and see if it changes anything .

P.S - what are you running openhab on ? I saw a few Intel NUC mentioned above.

You need to update the logback.xml file to set the log level to DEBUG. I think this is described on the wiki…

Anyway, I hope I’ve fixed the database problem -:

I’m running on a Synology DS415 - it works mostly well - certainly it’s not underpowered as it has an Intel inside rather than the ARM on most of the Synology units. I also have a NUC which I use for some development.

Hi Chris,

I got it working on a Windows10 laptop , with the latest zwave binding snapshot from today.
Is this the normal procedure to add zwave devices to openhab? had to wake up the device like 40 times before it worked.
doesn’t seems to be so complicated in the demo videos of Sensative Strips ( i think they used fibaro zwave controller)

Last question , if i configured the device on my windows laptop can i just move the zwave controller back to Synology and it will still work?

Battery operated z-wave devices usually support the command class “battery” to show the status of the battery charge. Am I right that this command class is missing here and that I can’t get any information about the battery?

Looking at the database, the BATTERY command class is supported.

I can confim this. My sensative strip is reporting battery status. You can find it here:

→ open Habmin
→ Register “Configuration”
→ select “bindings” (at the bottom of the page)
→ click on “zwave binding”
→ select register “Devices” (on top on the right side)
→ click on the + in the line of your device
→ open “information”
→ in the line “Power” you can see the battery status

I can see in the habmin UI that there is a power value assigned.

I can’t see anything wrong with your item definition. Maybe except the fact that I use battery (not BATTERY) in the curly brackets. I am using the same device and do get battery values.

How’s your sitemap definition looking? And is the sensor itself working (OPEN/CLOSE)?

You can add it to the group if you wish. But the above should work.
