I am using openHAB 2.4.0 and I have installed Binding OpenWeatherMap unfortunately I can not set the forecast for the next day.
I know that in the settings you have to set a few days but always in this case I do not want to connect and the status is set to “unknown”
What should I do to make it work properly?

Announcing OpenWeatherMap binding for Eclipse SmartHome / openHAB

A new weather binding for ESH / OH2 is in the pipe. You can add it to your system via the Eclipse IoT Marketplace or manually. Requires OH2 2.3+ (see post 116). The binding supports current weather, 5 day / 3 hour forecast (currently for 24h) and 16 day / daily forecast (currently for 5 days / paid accounts). Have a look at the documentation finalized documentation. I need a lot of volunteers for testing. Any kind of feedback will be very much appreciated.

OpenWeatherMap daily forecast using the free API

The OpenWeatherMap binding can be used with a free API, but this does not provide daily forecasts. So, I wrote a JSR223-Jython rule using the openhab2-jython modules to take the hourly data and add/remove the Items into groups that provide the daily forecast information. Since there are about 600 groups and Items that are needed, I included their creation in the rule too. The script file contains more details. OpenWeatherMap Forecast not working

Example: You will get up to 8 different values for tomorrow (24/3=8), e.g. 21,22,23,24,21,26,27,28 (which value is the correct one for tomorrow?) You have to calculate the average (=24) Your max value will be 28, but how will you know? Then you should use this, like @momo90 mentioned above:

The free API does not provide daily forecasts

It actualy does give you a 5 day forcast with a 3 hr period per day.
Dit the tests with a normal http request with my api key. Just takes some reading and work to get it to work

That’s what it means. There is no daily forecast. It’s broken down in 3 hours intervals. If you want a daily forecast, you have to work it out from the 3 hours data.

Yes, it does
I use a mix of three data sources for weather.

OWM for current conditions. It’s the closest to the actual conditions here.
An unreliable 433Mhz link to the neighbour weather station but I don’t know what neighbour. He could be a bit far and the connection isn’t great.
And I use DarkSky via the node-red node and the free api for daily forecasts. Simpler that way.
