@sidamos this is interesting but not very helpful. Please provide a bit more information: at least which android version you are using and the protocol log which should include the exception stack trace causing the crash. Then I might be able to identify and maybe also fix it.
Right.
It is a Samsung tablet with Android 16. When I tap on choose command item, the app just restarts.

I see a lot of âjava.lang.Exception: dummyâ entries in the log. I removed that exception in v0.10.0.
I also tried to install it on my phone (Android 16), and it works fine.
Please try to uninstall HABPanelViewer entirely first and then re-install it.
ok, you are right. Maybe the update from the old version did not really work because the app was set as admin.
Now it is different. When I tap on command item, it does not restart anymore. But it also does not provide a live search when I type (I think the old version did that). And when I enter the name of the item manually and save, it is not really being saved.
Attaching new log.

Log looks much better now, no exception/error any more ![]()
Please make sure youâre typing into the lower field, then auto-completion should work (assuming the server is configured properly):
Thanks, it works now! ![]()
Any chance that it is possible that HPV can turn the screen on of a modern tablet (Android 16)?
It can lock the screen (is admin app), but the screen on commands do nothing. On older tablets, this worked.
I have no lockscreen protection at all, power button just turns the display on and it is immediately usable without swiping up.
Battery optimization is off for HPV.
Workaround is the same as for an Amazon tablet: Do not lock the screen, just dim it. But that is not as nice.
Iâm busy these days, but Iâll try to check that next week.
Cool, thanks. There is also another issue, likely also related to newer Android versions:
When I enable the screenshot feature, it asks me if I want to share the screen with an app or the whole screen. The former does not enable the screenshots feature, the latter does.
However, after each restart of the app, the popup shows again.
I think I fixed the power-on issue, but I could not get the permission-popup for screen-capture remembered.
So if you enabled the screen-capture setting, the app asks for this permission on each start-up.
But I think this is a valid compromise ![]()
Download: HABPanelViewer v0.10.1
Thanks, I tested it (this time uninstalled the old version first).
SCREEN_ON or KEEP_SCREEN_ON still do not activate the display when it is locked.
The app is device admin.
Did you enable setting âShow on lock screenâ?
Sending command âKEEP_SCREEN_ONâ to the control-item then turns on the screen on my Android 16 device and shows HABPanelViewer (which was still running when the screen turned off).
The device is still locked though, i.e. I have to unlock it when going to the home screen. But thatâs intended.
Sorry, but if itâs not working for you, I cannot help because I cannot reproduce your problem ![]()
I enabled now âshow on lock screenâ and also tried making HPV the âhome appâ in the âstandard appsâ config.
Still, after ADMIN_LOCK_SCREEN, I cannot enable the screen again with SCREEN_ON or KEEP_SCREEN_ON.
That is strange, since it works for you.
