openHAB 2.5.10 release discussion

This topic can be used to discuss problems/experiences/questions on the openHAB 2.5.10 release - see details at https://github.com/openhab/openhab-distro/releases/tag/2.5.10

I’m having issues, the javascript transformation is stuck in ‘waiting’.
I guess it isn’t intentional that only the openhab2-addons package is new but openhab2 remains at 2.5.9 ? @benjy any issue with the upload or repo ?

[23:56:10] root@openHABianPi:/home/openhabian# apt-cache madison openhab2|head
openhab2 | 2.5.9-1 | https://dl.bintray.com/openhab/apt-repo2 stable/main armhf Packages
openhab2 | 2.5.8-1 | https://dl.bintray.com/openhab/apt-repo2 stable/main armhf Packages
openhab2 | 2.5.7-1 | https://dl.bintray.com/openhab/apt-repo2 stable/main armhf Packages

Same here after update 2.5.9 is shown in webinterface, addons are updated to 2.5.10

Running on openhabian.

Seems that Dashboard is still on 2.5.9:

openhab> bundle:list | grep 2.5.9

384 │ Active │ 80 │ 2.5.9 │ openHAB UI :: Bundles :: Dashboard UI

Also in Karaff Shell:

Logging in as openhab
                               Release Build 2.5.9

The update seems not to be available in the repos. Tried to update it via apt-get on my ubuntu server.

Hi, now 2.5.10 is on the repo, but not offered with apt upgrade:
image

sudo apt upgrade openhab2 -s
Paketlisten werden gelesen
 Fertig
AbhÀngigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut.
Statusinformationen werden eingelesen
 Fertig
openhab2 ist schon die neueste Version (2.5.9-1).
Paketaktualisierung (Upgrade) wird berechnet
 Fertig

Hey guys, sorry for the issues. The CI build of the linux-pkgs is somewhat unreliable

I have re-triggered everything, including re-calculation of metadata. I’d hope that this has solved the problem.

@Kai: I can confirm, that after starting update again now everything is running in version 2.5.10.
Also shown in karaff shell and web Interface now.

Many thanks for you support!

i use openhab in a docker container, the latest-debian image

Sometimes you have to restart twice or more often after upgrading. Have you done this?

yes, and everytime i delete the chache

Try the following:

  • Stop Openhab
  • Delete the cache
  • restart
  • wait until LOAD is “normal”
  • REstart again without cleaning the cache

I had a same error. I cleared cache and made other variants, but without success. But when I deleted “Amazon Echo Control Binding” from paper ui and reinstall it everything started as needed.

The next patch release is available: openHAB 2.5.10

@Kai many thanks for the update

I just want to mention though that when I installed it on my Rasberry Pi via the openhabian config application, it restarted the machine in an unstable state, so it was just sitting there and spitting out about 130 megabytes of logger crash dump messages per hour :frowning:

This may be because (by coincidence) the openhabian config application also applied many changes to the raspbian o/s at the same time ??

In any case a clean shutdown and reboot fixed the problem => but may I suggest that openhabian config application should have an option “Clean Shutdown and Reboot” on the menu?

An update does this for you.
Every time you clear the cache again, you cause difficulties for the next boot.
“Stop shooting yourself in the foot”

You may but no we won’t build that in. Too many people way prematurely reboot their boxes, killing traces and diagnostics. @rossko57 has put it well. We won’t animate people to shoot at their own feet.

Hmm :frowning:

Since Update 2.5.10 no items in the paperUI anymore. Items return when amazonechocontrol binding uninstalled, but disappear again when reinstalled.
