[SOLVED] Fibaro Rollershutter 222 - No updates on manual switch

Hi, I have several Fibaro Rolleshutter 222 controlling all my blinds in openhab2 (last stable version), and they work fine when I try to control them from the android app, via rules or web interface. But if I switch them using the 3-position manual toggle, despite the blinds moving as expected, there isn’t any updates in openhab until the next polling cycle (in my case, every 30 min).

In Habmin, I’ve set the param 14 so they work with toggle switches (and they do), and I’ve tried setting param 3 as Fibar command and Z-Wave command. No difference at all.

I’ve set the association groups (“openHAB controller” in all groups), and when I check the logs I can see that every manual change triggers this warning for each rollershutter node:

[WARN ] [tocol.commandclass.ZWaveCommandClass] - NODE 6: Unknown command class 0x91

So I guess the Fibaro is somehow reporting the update, but there’s a problem when openhab tries to process it. Anyone can help me? Thanks.

Read this and the following posts and upgrade to the development version of the zwave binding:

Thanks mate, I’ve upgraded the z-wave binding from 2.3.0 to 2.4.0.201808271154 and will try it as soon as I get home.

We’ll, I’ve tried it already and it doesn’t improve, but gets worse. Upgrading to the new binding means all the things created using the old one don’t work anymore, because the z-wave dongle thing stops working and you get a new one in the inbox which has a new ID, so it forces you to set it up all over again…

So I’ve configured a single rollershutter with its linked item, etc, and neither it updates on manual toggle nor creates any log warning anymore when I trigger the switch. Association groups still set, commands working allright, but not any response from the Fibaro.

After that, I’ve restored the last backup and keep looking for new ways. But it more and more looks like there isn’t much I can do except waiting for a more tested binding release…

You can change the Thing ID to match your old serial controller’s ID and all your recreated Things will retain the same ID as the old ones.

I can’t help much with the specific problems but wanted to make sure future readers see this and maybe avoid the same mistake.

Good luck!

I have several FGR222 running with the development version of the zwave binding, all is working well.
You need to find out what is wrong in your setup:

Do a bundle:list through karaf and see if only one instance of the binding is active, if yes, clear cache and tmp folders and restart openHAB.
Also make sure you don’t have any errors in your openhab.log. Most likely you need to add the transport serial through karaf … but that is also described in the big dev thread you may have already found. If not do so now …
I assume you did read the posts regarding that you need to delete all things and readd them when switching to the dev binding … ?

Yes, I checked I had only the 2.4 instance active as a z-wave binding in the karaf bundle list, and I also added the transport serial. But I’m quite sure I forgot clearing the cache folder, I didn’t think it was important since I was creating new elements which didn’t exist before…I’ll try again when I have the time to set up again all my ~20 things and over 30 items… Sounds like hard work, but if you say yours are working all right, it’s worth trying.

Since I’m doing it all again, how did you do it? Paper UI or text files?

Thank you very much, I’ll tell you something when it’s done :slight_smile:

PS: And yes, I noticed some people said you have to remove all things when switching to dev version, but as Rich Koshak says I though I would be able to change the bridge ID and go on. However I couldn’t find the option to edit the thing ID when adding it (maybe was there and I didn’t see it, maybe it was disabled) and it probably was a bad idea anyway, so I’ll try starting from scratch.

Just delete the things and readd them … 5 minutes work at most. Don’t exclude your devices!

Manual created zwave things are a bad idea because you cannot change any config parameters. PaperUI is working great for all my things …

Are you not using Visual Studio Code? You can replace your channel definitions with the new id in one minute … :grinning:

Hi @Atsz

@sihui FYI
@chris FYI

This isssue is already looked into:
https://community.openhab.org/t/fibaro-roller-shutter-fgrm-222-with-venetian-blinds-lamellas-position/9396/245

I am on development build as well and am seeing the same as reported in your post.
I suggest to merge with the older topic.

I don’t get your point: the topic you are referring to is about Lamella position.
In this topic we are talking about

I’m using several FGR222 since a long time with different zwave builds and they are reporting a new state triggered by the hardware switches instantly.

I am referring to the comment on the “unknown command class” in the first post.
I am obsevering the exact same when using the HW switches - regardless if just changing the tilt or completely raising/lowering the blinds.
OH is completely unaware of the actions triggered by HW switches (toggle switches in my case).
And I am neither receiving usable updates immediately after HW are used nor after regular update/polling interval.
I was sharing both “tilt only” and full raise/lower logs in the other topic.

From my point of view those issues are originating from the same root cause.
OH not able to interpret “manufacturer proprietary” messages which are sent by fgr-222 after using HW switches.
Please review my posts on the other topic to get an insight of the issue am I (and others) are describing in the topic.

Still works fine here and always has …

@sihui:

never worked - I am using OH since version 2.1 and switched to zwave development release once the lamella support was introduced (now on 2.3 release build and ZWave Binding 2.4.0.201808210909)

Are you able to share your configuration and version of FGR-222?

One out of six:

Please note that I don’t use the lamella function. If the problem is related to that, I can’t help because I can’t test :sunglasses:

It seems I’m having the same problem as @Chri46. About @sihui config, I have different values for parameter 14 (toggle switch) and 50 (associations instead of scenes).

@sihui, when you say that it always has been working, you mean for every version of the binding in the past?

Yes. I bought those almost two years ago and they always have been working fine.
But as noted above: I have never used the lamella function!

I’m not using the lamella function either. It could be related to your Fibaros containing a different firmware version than ours despite being the same FGR 222 product. I bought mine about 6 months ago, so it would make sense…

If your firmware is different than 25.25. and has different functions/parameters we need to add that to the database.
Please compare your xml file against mine and try to find the differences:
