Z-Wave Healing turn on lights

Hi,

I have a new installation where the last couple of days, some lights turn ON during healing. I attach the zwave LOG (it only has today’s data). I’m using binding 2.4.0 and healing at 2AM (it seems to start at 2:30).

The first thing that turns on is at 02:31:29.435.

Thank you

They’re going to ask why you’re using 2.4.0 on a new installation.

It was created in December but not used till this week  I don’t have the tools to update it now but I’ve checked the last fixes and none of them seem to be related ( I don’t have timeout problems like this)

There were tons of updated in the Z-Wave binding between 2.4 & 2.5.x. Before 2.5 stable was released the z-wave developer strongly recommended a 2.5 Milestone due to those changes. There were also many database changes since 2.4. I spent 4 months updating many entries in addition t other updates.

Actually the binding is currently going through a complete rewrite. The expert recommendation for zwave support would be to update to the latest 2.5.

It will take some time to get the change to update the installation, that’s why I shared with you the information.

Seems weird that during healing a thing turns ON, and looking at cd-jackson parser, I don’t see any reason for that. I think it can provide interesting data meanwhile I manage to update to 2.5.

The xml file may provide additional clues for Chris since it is generated using data from the device itself.

If you don’t see any evidence that openHAB is the hand on your ghostly switch you should consider the association groups set in your devices.

There’s only Lifeline linked to the controller, no other association exists. Also, there are NO rules configured in Openhab :frowning:

Which one do you mean? The ones generated in /var/lib/openhab2/zwave/?

Yes, the one from that node.

Here you have it (network_c5564a6c__node_11.xml)

Thank you!

Thanks.
Let’s see what @chris thinks.

Unfortunately I can’t view the log - I get a download error each time.

Why are you using such an old version of the binding? It will not be possible to fix anything (although I would be surprised if there is a problem in the binding here, but let’s see).

I emailed Chris a different link that will hopefully work…

Thanks @Bruce_Osborne that works fine.

@apica Can you tell me what devices or what times there are changes? Currently I don’t see any commands in this log to set a binary switch at least so it would be good if you can narrow down what I’m looking for?

Chris,

  • At 02:31:29.435, node 11 reports a turn ON state change (first switch_binary, then switch_binary1 and switch_binary2).
  • At 02:31:42.673, node 11 again turns OFF.
  • At 02:31:43.874 node 9 (RGB dimmer) changes from 0% to 25%
  • At 02:31:44.783 and the following seconds, node 11 turns ON and OFF multiple times.

All of this interactions were made from the device even though there is no TX command from the Gateway to turn them ON/OFF!
I’ve already sent the node xml of node11. Anything else I can help you with?

So this is my point - the binding is not sending anything here, so I don’t see what I can do. If the lights a physically turning on and off, then I don’t know what is causing that, but it’s not the binding.

Did you ever find this behaviour? Is odd that the device decides to turn itself ON/OFF repeatedly without any external interaction :worried:

I’m not sure what you mean? I’m not looking for any bug on this - I don’t see anything wrong with the binding and it’s clearly not sending any commands to the devices so I don’t think there’s really anything to find.

I agree - that’s odd, and I’ve no idea why. It is clearly something outside of the binding that is doing this so there’s really nothing I can comment on as to why this is happening - sorry.

Hi again @chris I could manage to update an installation (2.5.6-2) and enable zwave LOGs. Yesterday I finally got an error with a light that was turned on without any apparent reason at 22:27. The device was this one.

Here are the zwave log. I don’t really know what are the messages occurring in that moment but no healing/reset was done at that moment.

Thank you!
