openHAB 2.5.x Patch Releases

Thank you very much for this quick fix!

I have the same issue here, something related to [homekit] fix corrupt storage by yfre Ā· Pull Request #7940 Ā· openhab/openhab-addons Ā· GitHub? @yfre

openhab> smarthome:homekit clearPairings
Command not found: smarthome:homekit

And seems properly installed:

openhab-misc-homekit x 2.5.6 x x x Started x openhab-addons-2.5.6 x HomeKit Integration

what you get if you just type ā€œhomekitā€ without smarthome?

openhab> homekit
Command not found: homekit

@apica @MrKlepper let us move here

Is it for just me or are the release notes broken?

same for me

same for me here

I think thereā€™s a more generalized problem with GitHub right now.
(I was able to see the notes before)

EDIT: seems to be fixed now

Yes, openHAB 2.5.6 release notes are back again at https://github.com/openhab/openhab-distro/releases/tag/2.5.6.

Btw, a good point was raised in Announcements being used for discussions / questions etc and as a consequence I am closing this topic here.
Any questions and discussions should best happen in a dedicated topic (and referencing this one here, so that the links are visible here as a list) or - if it is clearly a bug - directly be reported on Github.

Following the monthly release cycle, we have again released a new patch release today (due to the holiday season, it wasnā€™t done on a Sunday as all the previous releases, but weā€™ll get back to that in August): openHAB 2.5.7 has been published!
You can find the release notes as usual on Github at https://github.com/openhab/openhab-distro/releases/tag/2.5.7.
We again have 8 new bindings coming with it and a lot of enhancements and fixes on existing ones. I am very happy about this great progress, which would not have been possible without @fwolter, who joined our add-on maintainer team just a month ago - he really did an awesome job for the community in the past weeks already!

Since you cannot comment on this topic directly, feel free to address any comments, questions and other remarks here.

Exactly one month after my last post, we reached openHAB 2.5.8!
The release notes are available on Github at https://github.com/openhab/openhab-distro/releases/tag/2.5.8.

Iā€™d like to use the opportunity to share some details on our plans for the coming months:
openHAB 2.5.9 is tentatively scheduled for September 20 and it will be the last ā€œbigā€ 2.5.x patch release. Immediately after this release, we will make the master branch (i.e. 3.x) of the add-ons repo the default branch to work on - only major and critical fixes will be backported to the 2.5.x branch and become part of a 2.5.10 release. Early October we should have a first milestone build of openHAB 3.0 and we are still aiming for the release by the end of the year.

Please use this topic for any follow-ups, questions and discussions.

As promised in my last post in August, we have delivered openHAB 2.5.9 today on time! I mentioned it being the last ā€œbigā€ patch release and yeah - this one is REALLY big! Check out the release notes at https://github.com/openhab/openhab-distro/releases/tag/2.5.9: it includes no less than 26 new bindings!

This has been a massive review effort the past weeks and I want to thank everyone involved in this, both contributors and maintainers - you rock! :rocket:

To be honest, 2.5.9 clearly does not deserve being called a ā€œpatch releaseā€, so I am happy that we are at the end of that phase. As previously mentioned, we will continue to ship 2.5.10, etc., but those will really only be about bug fixes. All feature development will from now on move to 3.x - Iā€™ll soon share more details, so make sure to check the announcements category from time to time!

If you have specific questions on the 2.5.9 release, please use this topic for any further discussion.
All contributors that want to know how to proceed with PRs now should please read here.

The next patch release is available: openHAB 2.5.10, please find the release notes at https://github.com/openhab/openhab-distro/releases/tag/2.5.10.

With this (and the future 2.5.x releases) we are now really back to small patch releases - 2.5 is now really our ā€œstableā€ release and you donā€™t have to (and should not) expect any bigger changes in it anymore. We will continue the regular patch releases, so that anything critical that comes up can be quickly addressed and be fixed, while keeping potential negative impacts of changes to existing setups to a minimum.

Enjoy and please use this topic for any further discussion. Thanks!

Just as a heads-up:

With the stronger focus on openHAB 3.0, we will reduce the release frequency for 2.5.x and wonā€™t follow the monthly scheme any further.
We will nonetheless continue to provide patch releases also well into next year, but only do those releases whenever a couple of fixes piled up.
You can expect 2.5.11 early December, a 2.5.12 would then follow next year only.

All, together with the patch release 3.0.1, we have also shipped openHAB 2.5.12, which addresses the same security vulnerability and which contains a few other small fixes - see Release openHAB 2.5.12 Ā· openhab/openhab-distro Ā· GitHub for details.

If you are on a 2.5.x release, we recommend you to update to 2.5.12.
